In his own Words” Racing at the Sanyo Cup was a dream come true for me. It was my first open New Zealand team and I was fortunate to be named captain which was a very rewarding experience and a huge honour- something I will always remember.
My highlights from Japan were:
1st in the Taplin, 3rd in the Ski Race, 3rd in the Ironman, 3rd in the board race.
The conditions were dead flat so racing was very tight. I was a tad disappointed not to be on the top of the podium for more races with some very narrow defeats but overall I loved the experience and it has left me very motivated for the upcoming season.
My next focus is on the Coolangatta Gold and the Mount Monster for the remainder of the year and I am looking forward to putting in some good training over the next few months.
None of this could have been possible without the support of Omanu Beach SLSC and I am extremely grateful for all of the help over the years.
I am very much looking forward to my next trip back and hope everything is going well with everyone.
